She performed on that stage every year until she reached the age of 12, after which she took home the prize that allowed her to perform on the big stage at the event. She traveled across the country to Orlando, Florida, when she was ten years old to compete with the American Model and Talent Competition. She managed to defeat more than 1500 kids at the competition. Alaina was a singer with the Georgia Country Gospel Music Association's kids' group. Alaina was 12 when she took her first of several visits to Nashville. Also, she performed at local bars such as Tootsie's in Broadway. Alaina, who was born in 1989, won the WinniSTAR talent competition for young people in Lake Winnepesaukah. Alaina was motivated to sing because of her aunt, Holly Witherow, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Before Idol, Alaina worked at CiC's Pizza. She played cheerleading at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe high school in Fort Oglethorpe Georgia.
