Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano in her basement, and bewildered by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for a job or a hobby and as a way to grow. So she started writing her own songs. Bjork as well as Leonard Cohen are among her most favored songwriters. When her mother told her that the songs she wrote might not be famous for her, however, but to encourage people to see their own value and impact in our world at large, she began playing them on stage. She began playing the piano as her primary instrument, at six. She started creating music after turning nine. The family did not know about this until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora has never imagined being a famous singer. The singer claims she is a fan of writing music. According to her, the music she composes is how she feels about everything.
